Aurora, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in northern Minnesota have released the name of the homeowner who perished in the fire Thursday night.

the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says 70-year-old Mark Weyandt died at the scene after he was pulled out of his burning home in the Iron Range city of Aurora. The Northland Fire Wire reported that firefighters found the two-story house engulfed in flames when they arrived at the scene around 6:30 PM.

The website also reported that a neighbor attempted to enter the home, but was pushed out by the intense smoke and flames. Firefighters were able to later enter the structure and found the victim and his three dogs, which were also victims of the fire.

The Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office and the East Range Police Department are investigating the cause of the deadly fire.
