LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) — Officials in La Crosse are investigating a house fire that left a 65-year-old woman dead.

Fire Chief Tom Wallerich says the front of the house was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived about 11:15 p.m. Sunday.

The La Crosse Tribune reports that two firefighters who entered through a window found Darlene Jambois in a first-floor bedroom. She was pronounced dead at Gundersen Health System.

Wallerich says the fire started in the living room, but the cause remains under investigation. The woman's death is not considered suspicious.
