The terrorism crisis in France was coming to a head Friday morning during the Rochester Today show with Andy Brownell and Tom Ostrom.

While Tom and Andy were discussing the attack on a Paris newspaper office that claimed the lives of 12 people, French security forces were engaging in gun battles with the two brothers suspected of the massacre and a third terrorist who had taken hostages at a kosher market in Paris. Later, al-Qaeda in Yemen claimed responsibility and boasted about planning and directing the deadly terrorist attack.

The engaging discussion included a couple calls from listeners about drones. Not the high-tech machines used by the military, but rather the smaller commercial versions that are becoming cheaper to buy and easier to fly. The first caller speculated terrorists could use the "hobby" versions of the drones to stage attacks, while the second caller owns several drones and shared his knowledge about their capabilities and capacity to carry cameras or other objects.
