Young Motorcyclist Killed in Crash With Car on Southeast MN Road

Brownsville, MN (KROC-AM News)- A young motorcycle operator from La Crosse was killed in a crash on a southeast Minnesota highway Wednesday evening.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the fatal crash shortly before 8:45 p.m. The other vehicle involved in the deadly collision was a sedan.

The State Patrol responded to the fatal collision on Hwy. 26 near the Houston County community of Brownsville, which is about 15 miles south of the La Crosse area.

The motorcycle was traveling north and the car was heading south when the vehicles collided on the two-lane highway, the updated state crash report says.

23-year-old Cameron Nicholas Sokolik was identified as the motorcycle operator. He was pronounced dead at the scene and was wearing a helmet.

45-year-old Kathleen Marie Grangaard from Waukon, IA was identified as the car driver. She escaped the deadly crash without injuries.

Hwy. 26 was dry at the time of the fatality. The Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Hookah Police Department, Brownsville Fire Department and Tri State Ambulance also responded to the deadly crash.

There have now been at least nine traffic deaths on Minnesota roads since April 25. Earlier this week the State Patrol reported the death toll on Minnesota's roads this year has risen above 100.
