Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the arrest of a Rochester man suspected of breaking into a woman’s home and assaulting her.

Captain Tim Parkin said deputies responded to the assault call at an apartment around 8:20 Saturday evening. The suspected assailant was also reported to have brandished brass knuckles and a stun gun. 

The home invasion and assault was reported at a residence in the 3800 block of Hwy. 14 east in Rochester.

Parkin said the female victim reported being assaulted and strangled by the suspect, who was later identified as 34-year-old Justin Peterson.

The victim also told deputies that Peterson stole her phone. Parkin said deputies found and arrested Peterson at his apartment.

The law enforcement report indicates Peterson and the victim are neighbors. Parkin said the victim had visible injuries but declined to be transported to a hospital for medical care. 

Peterson was arrested on suspicion of First-Degree Burglary Commit Assault, Second-Degree Assault with Dangerous Weapon, Interference of a  911 Call, Theft of Property $501-1000, Possession Dangerous Weapon and Obstructing the Legal Process. 

Jail records indicate Peterson was booked into the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday. He’s awaiting arraignment in Olmsted County Court.
