Indians rip Tigers again

UNDATED (AP) — The Cleveland Indians have added another game to their lead in the American League Central by maintaining their perfect record against the Detroit Tigers this season.

The Indians are 11-0 versus the Tigers this season after Lonnie Chisenhall went 4-for-5 with three RBIs in a 12-1 laugher over Detroit. Tyler Naquin and Carlos Santana delivered solo homers to help the Indians win for the 16th time in 18 games. Winning pitcher Carlos Carrasco was reached for just one run and three hits in six innings.

Cleveland's division lead is up to 7 ½ games over the Tigers, eight games over Kansas City and 8 ½ over the Chicago White Sox.

The Royals absorbed their third consecutive loss as Troy Tulowitzki (too-loh-ITS'-kee) hit a three-run homer and Josh Donaldson added a pair of solo blasts in Toronto's 8-3 pounding of Kansas City. The Jays coasted after Ezequiel Carrera, Donaldson and Tulowitzki each homered with one out in the third to make it 6-0. R.A. Dickey allowed no earned runs and four hits in seven innings while outpitching former teammate Chris Young, who was rocked for six runs in 2 1/3 innings.

Elsewhere in the majors:

— Shin-Soo Choo led off the Rangers' 7-2 victory in Boston with a homer off David Price before Robinson Chirinos (chih-REE'-nohs) added a three-run blast in the ninth to ice the victory. Elvis Andrus (AN'-droos) had two hits and scored twice for Texas, which continues to lead the AL West by 7 ½ games over the Astros. Price struck out 10 but was reached for three runs and eight hits in eight innings as the Red Sox ended a two-game winning streak.

— Colby Rasmus and A.J. Reed launched two-run homers and Luis Valbuena (val-BWAY'-nuh) provided a solo shot in Houston's second straight win over Seattle, 5-2. Dallas Kuechel (KY'-kul) allowed two runs and five hits in six innings for his third straight win since a 3-9 start. Taijuan Walker surrendered the Astros' three homers as the Mariners fell 9 1/2 games off the AL West lead.

— Baltimore's five-game skid is over after Manny Machado belted a tiebreaking, three-run homer off Kenta Maeda (mah-EH'-dah) in the fifth inning to lead the Orioles past the Dodgers 4-1 in Los Angeles. Chris Tillman improved to 11-2 by holding the Dodgers to a run and five hits in seven innings. The outcome gives the AL East-leading Orioles a 2 ½-game lead over Toronto, with Boston three games back.

— The Dodgers remain five games off the NL West lead following San Francisco's 7-3 loss to Colorado. The Giants led 2-1 in the seventh until Nolan Arenado (ar-eh-NAH'-doh) ripped a two-out, three-run homer one batter after DJ LeMahieu (leh-MAY'-hyoo) singled home the Rockies' first run. LeMahieu had three hits and two RBIs as the Rockies ended a six-game losing streak.

— John Lackey is 0-3 in his last five starts after surrendering five earned runs on six hits and five walks over six innings of the Cubs' 9-5 loss to Cincinnati. Zach Cozart and Jay Bruce smacked two-run homers and Joey Votto had two RBIs to help the Reds win for only the third time in 14 games. The Cubs got within 5-4 on third-inning homers by Javier Baez, Kris Bryant and Addison Russell before losing for the fifth time in six games.

— The Pirates beat the Cardinals 5-2 in St. Louis behind Eric Fryer's two hits and three RBIs. Pirates starter Steven Brault received a no-decision in his big league debut after allowing one earned run over four innings. The Redbirds remain nine games behind the NL Central-leading Cubs, with the Bucs another half-game back.

— Giancarlo Stanton was a one-man wrecking crew in Miami's 5-2 win over the New York Mets, belting a three-run homer and a go-ahead, two-run blast. Jose Reyes received a nice ovation at Citi Field before going 0-for-4 in his return to the Mets. Yoenis Cespedes (yoh-EH'-nehs SEHS'-peh-dehs) and pinch-hitter Alejandro De Aza (day AH'-zah) homered for the Mets, who ended a five-game winning streak and stayed four games behind the NL East-leading Nationals.

— The Brewers beat the Nats for the second straight day as Hernan Perez and Aaron Hill ripped two-run homers to power Milwaukee to a 5-2 triumph in Washington. Hill had three RBIs for the Brewers, who are 4-1 versus the Nats this season. The Nationals collected nine hits but just two runs off Brewers starter Kyle Davies in 6 2/3 innings.

— Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka (mah-sah-HEE'-roh tah-NAH'-kah) was sharp in a 9-0 rout of the White Sox, scattering six hits and striking out six over 7 2/3 innings. Chase Headley was 3-for-5 with a two-run homer, Mark Teixeira (the-SHEH'-uh) drove in a couple and Austin Romine added a solo shot to help the Bombers improve to 2-3 on their 10-game road trip.

— Rickie Weeks crushed a three-run homer and Paul Goldschmidt had a pair of RBIs in Arizona's 7-5 decision over San Diego. Jean Segura was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored to help the Diamondbacks climb out of a last-place tie with the Padres in the NL West.

— Philadelphia won for the seventh time in eight games as Zach Eflin tossed a six-hitter in a 5-1 decision over Atlanta. Peter Bourjos, Cody Asche (ASH'-ee), Maikel (MY'-kehl) Franco and Tommy Joseph hit solo homers to back Eflin's first major league victory and complete game.

— C.J. Cron (krohn) homered twice and had four ribbies as the Angels roughed up the Rays 13-5. Andrelton (AN'-druhl-tuhn) Simmons was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored in helping Los Angeles deal the Rays their 17th loss in 20 games.

— Fifth-inning homers by Kennys (KEH'-nee) Vargas and Max Kepler broke open Minnesota's 11-4 thrashing of Oakland. Miguel Sano (sah-NOH') added a three-run blast to support Tommy Milone (mih-LOHN') who gave up just one run and five hits in six innings after entering the game with a 6.23 ERA.

Cubs land five on NL starting lineup

NEW YORK (AP) — The Cubs have become the first team since the 1976 Reds to have five players voted as All-Star Game starters.

The Cubs' entire infield of first baseman Anthony Rizzo, second baseman Ben Zobrist, shortstop Addison Russell and third baseman Kris Bryant were elected along with Chicago outfielder Dexter Fowler. Joining the Cubs quintet are Giants catcher Buster Posey, Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes (yoh-EH'-nehs SEHS'-peh-dehs) and Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper.

Boston has three first-time starters and four overall on the American League starting squad: designated hitter David Ortiz, shortstop Xander Bogaerts (ZAN-dur BOG'-gahrts) and outfielders Jackie Bradley Jr. and Mookie Betts.

Royals catcher Salvador Perez and Kansas City first baseman Eric Hosmer are also part of the AL starting lineup, as are Orioles third baseman Manny Machado and Angels outfielder Mike Trout.

Bucs infielder investigated for sexual assault

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago police say they are investigating an allegation of sexual assault against Pirates infielder Jung Ho Kang (gahng).

A police spokesman said the Chicago woman met Kang through a dating app and was invited to his hotel room on June 17. The woman said she blacked out, then drifted in and out of consciousness as he sexually assaulted her.

Cards put Moss on DL

UNDATED (AP) — The Cardinals have placed slugger Brandon Moss on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left ankle and recalled outfielder Randal Grichuk (GRIH'-chihk) from Triple-A Memphis. Moss leads the Cardinals with 17 homers and has 40 RBIs in 75 games this season.

Grichuk got off to a slow start with the Cardinals this year, hitting .206 with eight homers and 27 RBIs in 62 games before his demotion.

In other baseball doings:

— Angels left-hander C.J. Wilson will have season-ending surgery to address fraying of the labrum and rotator cuff. Wilson has not pitched in a game since having surgery last August to remove bone spurs from his left elbow.

— Closer Wade Davis has landed on the Royals 15-day disabled list with a strained right forearm after going 1-0 with a 1.23 ERA and 19 saves in 30 games. Kansas City called up right-hander Brooks Pounders from Triple-A Omaha.

NBA-FREE AGENCY

AP Source: Hornets land Hibbert, Sessions

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Charlotte Hornets are adding center Roy Hibbert and point guard Ramon Sessions to their roster.

A person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press that Hibbert will receive a one-year deal worth $5 million and Sessions will get a two-year, $12.3 million package with a team option for the second season.

Hibbert is expected to back up Cody Zeller, while Sessions fills in for Kemba Walker.

The Associated Press has also learned the following from people familiar with the negotiations:

— The Mavericks and Dirk Nowitzki (noh-VIHT'-skee) have reached agreement on a two-year contract that could get the star forward to 20 seasons in Dallas. The agreement would be worth roughly $20 million per season with a player option in the second year. The 38-year-old Nowitzki has averaged 22 points and 7.9 rebounds during his NBA career since being taken ninth overall in the 1998 draft.

— The Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to terms with guard Gerald Henderson on a two-year deal worth $18 million. Henderson averaged 8.7 points in his first season with Portland, after spending six years with Charlotte.

— The San Antonio Spurs have traded Boris Diaw (DEE'-ow) to the Utah Jazz for point guard Olivier Hanlan. Diaw averaged 6.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists last season.

— David West is headed to Golden State on a one-year deal to try to land that elusive championship. West left some $11 million on the table last season when he opted out of his contract with Indiana to try to get a title with the San Antonio Spurs. He averaged a career-low 7.1 points per game.

NHL-SIGNINGS

Wild, Isles keep goalies

UNDATED (AP) — The Minnesota Wild and New York Islanders have re-signed a backup goaltender.

The Wild gave a one-year pact with Darcy Kuemper (KEHM'-pur), who went 6-7-5 with a .915 save percentage and a 2.43 goals-against average for the team last season.

J.F. Berube (beh-ROO'-bay) also took a one-year deal with the Isles after posting a 3-2-1 record with a 2.71 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in seven games for New York.

Also in the NHL:

— The New York Rangers have agreed to terms with restricted free agents Nicklas Jensen and Mat Bodie.

— The New Jersey Devils have signed free agent left wing Luke Gazdic and re-signed restricted free agent center Jacob Josefson.

— And the St. Louis Blues have re-signed forward Magnus Paajarvi (pah-YAHR'-vee) to a one-year, $700,000 contract.

TENNIS-WIMBLEDON

Serena, Venus move into semifinals

LONDON (AP) — The Williams sisters have stayed on track to meet in the Wimbledon final.

Top seed Serena has moved into the semifinals for the 10th time with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (pav-lee-oo-CHEN'-ko-vuh).

Six-time champ Serena will next meet Elena Vesnina (vehz-NEE'-nuh) who beat Dominika Cibulkova (doh-mih-NEE'-kuh see-bool-KOH'-vuh) 6-2, 6-2.

Earlier, Venus Williams beat Yaroslava Shvedova (shveh-DOH'-vuh) 7-6, 6-2.

The five-time champion and eighth seed last played this deep into the second week in 2009.

Venus Williams will next face Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber, who beat Simona Halep (HAL'-ehp) 7-5, 7-6.

Tenth seed Tomas Berdych (TOH'-mahs bur-DEEK') won his fourth-round match by outlasting fellow Czech Jiri (YUR'-ee) Vesely 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3. Berdych faces Lucas Pouille (POO'-ee) in Wednesday's men's quarterfinals.

The other quarterfinal matches on Wednesday's schedule have Roger Federer battling Marin Cilic (CHIH'-lihch), second seed Andy Murray against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (joh-WIH;'-freed SAHN'-gah) and American Sam Querrey against sixth seed Milos Raonic (ROW'-nihch).

In other tennis news:

— Sam Querrey has been left off the upcoming U.S. Davis Cup roster despite becoming the first American male in five years to reach a Grand Slam quarterfinal. Querrey moved into the Wimbledon quarterfinals, a run that included a third-round upset that ended Novak Djokovic's string of 30 Grand Slam wins. The U.S. Tennis Association has named John Isner and Jack Sock to play singles, and twins Bob and Mike Bryan in handle the doubles.

— Andy Murray will lead the British team in next week's Davis Cup quarterfinal against Serbia, which will be without Djokovic (NOH'-vak JOH'-kuh-vich). Murray led Britain to the Davis Cup title last year, its first in 79 years.

CYCLING-TOUR DE FRANCE

Kittel wins stage, Sagan holds onto lead

LIMOGES, France (AP) — German rider Marcel Kittel has claimed the fourth stage of the Tour de France.

It was Kittel's ninth stage win at the Tour.

World champion Peter Sagan kept the yellow jersey as the overall leader.
