Warrant Issued for Rochester Woman Accused of Choking Olmsted County Detention Deputy

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- An arrest warrant was issued Thursday for a Rochester woman accused of attacking a detention deputy in the Olmsted County jail last year.

The court document says the victim was one of three detention deputies performing pat downs and cell checks. The warrant complaint alleges the attack happened on the afternoon of October 13 during a shakedown of two units inside of the jail. 

During the check a detainee, identified in the court filing as 24-year-old Hailey Marie Thole, grabbed the deputy’s neck and dug her thumbs in, making it difficult for the deputy to breathe and speak, the court document says. 

A deputy then came to the victim’s by prying Thole off of her. That deputy and a second deputy placed Thole in handcuffs while the victim attempted to catch her breath. 

Additional deputies then escorted Thole out of the unit. Red marks were seen on the victim’s neck, the complaint says.

The arrest warrant charges Thole with one count of felony fourth-degree assault of a correctional employee. Thole was released from jail before the charges were filed. 

The warrant was issued because Thole does not have a known permanent address, the complaint says. As of Thursday night Thole is not in custody.
