Four elementary schools in the Rochester School District are among the over 150 schools throughout the state that have been identified as under-performing by the state’s Multiple Measurement Rating system.

Franklin and Sunset Terrace Elementary Schools have been classified as “Continuous Improvement” schools because of disappointing standardized math and reading test scores. Gage Elementary is a “Focus School” for problems associated with the so-called achievement gap, while Riverside Elementary is a “Priority School.’ That classification covers the 5% most persistently low-performing schools in the state.

Overall, Superintendent Michael Munoz says the school district’s students continued to demonstrate growing proficiency in reading and math on the standardized tests administered in the spring, and that growth was greater than it was the previous school year.
