The master plan was finalized during the past year and includes different scenarios for the school’s future campus adjacent to Soldiers Field  Park.

The regents will be told the UMR plan is based on enrollment projections and expected program growth, as well as becoming a major presence in the city’s downtown.

The plan shows the 10 acre site where the campus will be located can accommodate nearly 600,000 square feet of development, which would include educational and other buildings and a parking garage.  It also calls for 5 acres of open space.  Most of the focus over the next few years will be on the expected construction of the first building on the campus, referred to in the plan as UMR-1.  The 120,000 square foot building would be located on the northwest corner of the campus, property already owned by the U of M.

The plan also indicates UMR is considering connecting to the steam distribution systems operated by Olmsted County and Mayo Clinic.

The latest plan calls for an enrollment total of 1400 over the next 10 years, an increase of 600 from the present figure.  It’s expected the number of faculty and staff will increase to a total of 150.
