Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News)  -  The National Weather Service says heavy rain fell in the Morris area early Tuesday with some totals in excess of five inches.

Morris is in the west central part of the state, south of Alexandria.

More rain could fall across that area and other parts of Minnesota Tuesday and Tuesday evening. There is also a threat of severe weather that could include strong winds, hail and tornadoes.

Heavy rain could fall in southeastern Minnesota Tuesday night with possible totals of 1- 2 inches by Wednesday morning.

The rain would be welcome in some areas where it has been dry the past few weeks. The Rochester airport has received less than half an inch of rain since June 23rd.
