ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Prosecutors allege a St. Paul man fatally shot his longtime girlfriend as she sat on a loveseat in their home.

Fifty-six-year-old John Gordon Weisner Jr. was charged Friday with second-degree intentional murder.

The complaint alleges Weisner used a shotgun to kill 54-year-old Ramona Ann Turner and then stabbed himself repeatedly in the torso. Weisner was taken to a hospital for treatment and is now in the Ramsey County Jail.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Turner was Weisner's partner for 40 years. The couple had two sons.

The complaint says Weisner told police that Turner was planning to leave him and he was angry, saying shooting her was "spur of the moment."
