Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester School Board voted Tuesday night to ratify a new contract with its teachers.

The agreement was approved last week by members of the Rochester Education Association and covers the two-year period that began on July 1st of last year. It calls for the teachers to receive a general pay increase of 2.5-percent for the current school year, and a 3-percent increase in the second year of the contract. The first year salary increase is retroactive to last July.

Factoring in benefits and other factors, the new contract increases the school district’s costs by just under 7.5-percent over the two-year period.
