Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)  - A Rochester man has been ordered to begin his second stint in prison for drug trafficking in the Rochester area.

30-year-old José Aguilera today was given an 85-month prison sentence for his conviction on a first-degree drug sale charge. He admitted to the charge in May through a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of two other first-degree drug charges.

The court record says the conviction stemmed from an investigation that began a couple of months before a State Trooper stopped his vehicle along Highway 52 north of Rochester and caught him with nearly a half pound of methamphetamine. Prior to that, he had been under law enforcement surveillance during which investigators documented a series of suspected drug transactions during visits by Aguilera to the Twin Cities.

Aguilera previously served a 65-month prison sentence for drug trafficking. In that case, he was convicted in 2016 of a first-degree drug charge involving drug sales in the Rochester area and the Twin Cities.
