Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A prominent Rochester businessman died Wednesday.

George Waters was also considered a pioneer in Minnesota’s medical device industry. He founded Waters Instruments in Rochester in 1954 following his departure from his father’s business, the Waters-Conley Company. After a long career manufacturing medical devices, many of them based on Mayo Clinic research, Waters retired from the Waters Instruments Board of Directors in 1992.

He was also very active in the community and held leadership positions with numerous Rochester organizations over the years.

His funeral arrangements are pending.
