ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A mother of four has died nine months after she was struck by a drunken driver in St. Paul and suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Fifty-two-year-old Joy Hundley underwent nine surgeries since she was struck while crossing a street after leaving work at Comcast last September.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports one of her four daughters, 21-year-old Morgan Medved, says her mom died Monday after contracting bacterial meningitis from a shunt that had been placed in her brain. Hundley's daughters are ages 13 to 35. The oldest daughter has been caring for the youngest since the teen's father died of cancer four years ago.

In February, the driver who struck Hundley was ordered to serve 110 days in jail, including the 79 days he had already served.
