Good news if you're looking to head to Hawaii: Minnesota's largest airline just announced it's adding nonstop flights to Maui!

Hawaii is one of those bucket list destinations, right? And if you're looking to go soak up the sun and fun of the 50th state, getting there will soon get a lot easier from the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Because the largest airline serving Minnesota (that would be Delta Air Lines, btw) just announced it's adding new non-stop flights to Maui later this year.

The Minnesota-based travel site Thrifty Traveler says that those new flights will fly you non-stop from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) to Kahului Airport (OGG) starting later this winter.

Thrifty Traveler noted that the new nonstop flight is set to start on December 16th, 2023, and will offer daily service as a seasonal route during Delta's winter season, which is then set to end on March 31st, 2024. Tickets on these new nonstop flights to Maui went on sale on Saturday, June 10th.

Right now, the Delta Air Lines website says a 7-day trip from MSP to OGG leaving on Dec 16th and returning on Dec 23rd, 2023 will run you $959 roundtrip per ticket for economy seats. For Delta's Comfort Plus, it's $1,339, and a whopping $5,101 for Delta One seats. (Those seats are likely in the 'if you have to ask, you can't afford it' category, right?)

Now, if you're looking to head to Hawaii this year, this new flight isn't the ONLY nonstop flight that Delta Air Lines runs. But Thrifty Traveler says this new route will have some definite advantages for Minnesotans:

Delta already flies nonstop to Honolulu (HNL) from its Minnesota hub but a straight shot to Maui will allow beachgoers to skip a connection en route to their favorite resort.

Delta says the nonstop flight from MSP to OGG is scheduled to last 9 hours and 10 minutes, with the return flight back to cold and snowy Minnesota scheduled for 7 hours and 50 minutes.  Aloha!
