Military Investigating Soldier’s Death at Fort McCoy

SPARTA, Wis. (AP) — The death of an Army reservist is being investigated at Fort McCoy.

The solider was unresponsive at a camp site where his unit was training on Wednesday.

Fort McCoy spokeswoman Linda Fournier says the man was taken by base personnel to Sparta Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The soldier's name has not been released, but officials say he's not from the area.

About 13,000 reservists and active duty soldiers are training at the base in Monroe County.
