Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The developer of the first Discovery Square project in downtown Rochester is gearing up to begin construction this fall.

Mayo Clinic employees have been notified that Parking Lot 2 will permanently close on October 13th. The surface lot in an area south of 4th Street and the west of 2nd Avenue was earlier chosen to be the home of a new four-story building that will include labs, office and classroom space leased by the Mayo Clinic, the University of Minnesota-Rochester, and a number of other private companies seeking to collaborate on a variety of cutting-edge medical and healthcare-related projects.

The $35 million dollar building will cover the northeastern portion of the lot and is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in 2019.

The employees impacted by the closing of the parking lot for the Destination Medical Center project are being advised to look for spaces in the six other Mayo Clinic owned parking lots in the same area.
