Manhunt Continues In Upstate New York
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (AP) — Residents in rural New York near the Canadian border are on edge as the search for two convicted killers who escaped a maximum security prison remain on the run for a ninth day. The men cut themselves free with power tools.
More than 800 law enforcement officers are searching the area around the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora. They're expanding the search area and going door-to-door today.
State police remained stationed overnight at intervals everywhere in the wooded search area. A series of lights illuminated both a roadway and fields where officers had conducted more grid searches.
The manhunt has residents on edge and authorities say there are no new leads.
