Rochester, MN (KROC AM News ) - A Rochester man was sentenced to seven years in prison after he entered into a plea agreement to settle charges stemming from a near-fatal stabbing last year.

23-year-old Thane Robinson entered a guilty plea to a first-degree assault charge in Olmsted County Court Thursday through a deal that led to the dismissal of an attempted murder charge.

Robinson was arrested last April after a 42-year-old man was dropped off at St. Mary’s Hospital with multiple stab wounds to his chest and back. Officials said he was near death when he arrived at the emergency room, but Mayo Clinic doctors were able to stop the bleeding and he survived. Robinson was accused of stabbing the victim during an altercation that occurred at a residence near the McDonald’s restaurant along North Broadway.

Robinson’s girlfriend, 24-year-old Jami Lotti, recently pleaded guilty to a fifth degree assault charge for threatening the stabbing victim.
