Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - An Olmsted County deputy will miss work for a few days while recovering from a bite injury to one of her hands.

The incident happened while she was helping deal with a military veteran who was having a violent PTSD episode.

She and two other deputies were called to a residence at the Hallmark Terrace mobile home park Monday evening by family members of the 34-year-old man. The deputies were told the man had been slamming his head into a wall and was out of control.

The deputies tried to get the man to calm down without luck and decided to get him under control and take him to St. Marys Hospital for treatment. That’s when the man bit the deputy’s hand and refused to let go. One of the deputies was forced to tase the man to get him to let go and he was taken to the hospital. The bite did not break the deputy’s skin or break any bones but her hand was extremely sore.
