BOSCOBEL, Wis. (AP) — Five children went to the hospital after their buggy was struck by a truck in southwestern Wisconsin.

Crawford County Sheriff Dale McCullick says the children were on their way to school just after 9:30 a.m. Friday when the buggy was hit from behind by a GMC truck on Highway 61.

The La Crosse Tribune reports the children ranged in age from 6 to 11. Three of the children were thrown onto the road.

Four were taken to Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital, and a fifth was airlifted to a hospital in La Crosse. Their conditions were not reported. The buggy's 11-year-old driver was not hurt.

The 86-year-old driver of the truck told deputies he didn't see the buggy. The sheriff says the buggy was equipped with a slow-moving vehicle sign.
