Austin, MN (KROC-AM News)- An Austin man is fighting for his life after crashing on a slick stretch of I-90 Tuesday morning.

The State Patrol responded to the single-vehicle crash shortly after 5 a.m. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. 

It happened near the interstate’s interchange with Hwy. 56, which is about five miles east of Austin, where an eastbound pick-up truck left the freeway and rolled.

The state crash report identifies the driver as 35-year-old Blaine Warren Edwards. He was taken from the scene of the crash to the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Austin with what are being described as life-threatening injuries.

The report says Edwards was not buckled up. The road had a layer of snow and ice on it at the time of the crash.

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office and Mayo Clinic Ambulance also responded to the serious crash.
