Honkers and Bucks Suspended Until July 13
Rochester, MN (Rochesterhonkers.com) – The Rochester Honkers and the Waterloo Bucks’ game is suspended with the Honkers leading the Bucks 6-2 in the top of the fifth. The game will be finished on July 13 at Mayo Field. The game will be added to both teams’ second-half record.
The Honkers took the lead in the first inning, when Casey Worden (UC Riverside) hit a RBI double to score Alex Fitchett (Hawaii) to give the Honkers a 1-0 lead. The Bucks came right back in the second; Zach Weatherford (Wright State) hit a two-run home run to take a 2-1 lead.
Worden hit an RBI single in third to score two runs, to give the Honkers a 3-2 lead. Drew Ellis then launched a three-run home run in the fourth to stretch the Honkers’ lead to 6-2.
Isaac Friesen (Hawaii) got the start for the Honkers; he pitched four innings, allowed two runs on four this, walked one and struck out one.
Patrick Boyle (Missouri Baptist) got the start for the Bucks; he pitched three innings, allowed three runs, two of which were earned, on three hits, walked two and struck out four.
Worden went 2 for 3 with two RBI, while Ellis went 1 for 2 with three RBI and a run scored to pace the Honkers’ offense. Weatherford went 1 for 2 with 2 RBI and a run scored to lead the Bucks.
The Honkers will go to Willmar to battle the Stingers on Wednesday and Thursday. Both games are set for 7:05 p.m. The Honkers are back at home Friday to battle the St. Cloud Rox for American Dairy Association Night!
