RICEVILLE, Iowa (AP) — A former northern Iowa vocal teacher who pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography has been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports that 27-year-old Adam Haacke, of Riceville, was sentenced Friday to 11 years and three months. There is no parole in the federal system.

Haacke pleaded guilty in November to one count of possession of child pornography. In exchange, two other counts were dismissed.

Prosecutors say Haacke possessed child porn images between January 2014 and May 7, 2015.

Haacke taught third through eighth grade vocal music at West Hancock schools during the 2012-13 school year and helped coach some junior high and high school athletic teams.

Haacke was not teaching at the time of his arrest.
