Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) – A federal terrorism-related indictment has been issued against a former Mayo Clinic researcher.

The U.S. Attorney for Minnesota announced Friday evening that 28-year-old Muhammad Masood has been indicted on a charge of attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. He is currently in federal custody at the Sherburne County Jail until his next court appearance.

The new indictment and other court documents allege Masood made a number of statements to others pledging his allegiance to ISIS and its leader. He also allegedly expressed desires to travel to Syria to fight for ISIS and conduct so-called “lone wolf” terror attacks in the U.S.

Federal officials say he was arrested on March 19th at the Twin Cities Airport, where he was scheduled to board a flight to Los Angeles.
