Former Worker Confesses to Hiding Camera in RPL Restroom
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former employee of the City of Rochester has admitted to placing a hidden video camera in a restroom at the Rochester Public Library in October.
66-year-old Todd Christian Lund was charged with a gross misdemeanor count of interference with privacy after the camera was discovered by another library employee in a staff-only restroom that required a city-issued badge to enter. According to the criminal complaint, the camera was found underneath the sink and pointed directly at the toilet. When it was inspected by police officers, it had been recording for just over one hour and 45 minutes.
The court document says Rochester police investigators reviewed library surveillance camera videos, which showed Lund entering the restroom approximately one hour and 45 minutes before the camera was discovered. Lund was fired from his position at the library shortly after the investigation into the incident was completed. A news release issued by the city following the incident stated that he had worked at the library since 2010.
Today, Lund admitted to the charge and was sentenced to two years on probation. He was also granted a stay of adjudication, which means the conviction can be erased from his criminal record if he successfully completes his probation.
