Minnesota saw a modest increase in foreclosure activity during the final three months of last year, but the total for the entire year was down significantly.

The firm RealtyTrac says they were just under 3,400 foreclosure related filings on homes in Minnesota from October through December, including over 1,200 in December alone. The three-month total is up 16-percent from the previous quarter, and is about 1- percent above the total from the fourth quarter of last year.

For the year, RealtyTrac is reporting there were almost 11,500 foreclosure related filings in the state. That’s down over 32-percent when compared to the total from 2013 and is nearly 55-percent below the 2012 total.

Nationwide, RealtyTrac says foreclosure activity was down 18-percent from the previous year and was the lowest it has been since 2006.
