MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have recalled star prospect Miguel Sano from Double-A Chattanooga.

The Twins say Sano will be in uniform for the game at Kansas City on Thursday night. The Dominican slugger was signed as a 16-year-old in 2009 and his debut with the Twins has been anticipated for years.

The 22-year-old Sano hit .274 with 15 home runs and 48 RBIs in 66 games for the Lookouts this season.

The Twins have struggled to find consistent power in the middle of their lineup, particularly at designated hitter. They got off to a surprising start and were in first place in May. But they have gone 11-18 in their last 29 games, mostly because of poor offense.

Sano missed all of last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
