Fired Rochester Cop Drops Appeal and Resigns
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester police officer who was fired last year has given up his fight to appeal the decision.
Officer Jeffery Stobbs was terminated Dec 1st by the city’s Police Civil Service Commission based on a recommendation from former Police Chief Roger Peterson.
His recommendation was based on an evaluation that found Stobbs was unfit for duty.
Stobbs had faced several complaints of excessive force since he joined the department in 2008. Peterson said in most of the incidents Stobbs was dealt with through reprimand, suspension or other administrative measures.
His appeal was filed under the Veteran's Preference Act. An appeal hearing had tentatively been scheduled for July but Stobbs decided to resign, effective June 19
