Winona, MN (Learfield Wire Services) -- The Winona Fire Department and firefighters from Goodview were called into action late Sunday night after a fire broke out at the Ferrara Candy factory in Winona.

Officials say flames were shooting through the roof of the building when firefighters arrived at the scene, but the fire was confined to an area surrounding an air filtration system on the top floor. No injuries were reported and the employees of the business were later allowed back into the factory.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the extent of the damage, which was mainly confined to the air filtration machinery, is still be evalulated.

Ferrara Candy is based in Chicago and makes foods that include specialty chocolate and gummy items.
