The Rochester Civil War Round Table will feature Dave Allen presenting, "The Battle of WIlson's Creek".
This battle was the 2nd major battle of the Civil War and the 1st major battle west of the Mississippi River. It was fought August 10th, 1861, near Springfield, Missouri, between the Union forces and the Missouri State Guard. It is sometimes called the "Bull Run of the West". The battle helped end the question of which side would control the state of Missouri, which was a vital component of the Union's "Anaconda Plan" to defeat the South.
