3 years in Prison for Home Invasion
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced to three years in prison for participating in a violent home invasion in February.
20-year-old Yasin Sufi and 20-year-old Adrick Mims were arrested in the Twin Cities after they were identified as suspects in the crime and were caught with property that had been stolen from the victims.
Five RCTC students told police that Sufi and Mims entered an apartment near the campus and one of them pointed a gun at the victims while demanding money. The complaint indicates Sufi told the college students that he was robbing them because he was going to jail for an assault and needed money. When the victims informed the two robbers they had no cash, the intruders fled with a phone, watch and other property.
Sufi was originally charged with first-degree aggravated robbery and burglary, but was allowed to plead guilty to a simple robbery charge.
Mims is scheduled to be sentenced in September.
