Winona, MN (KROC-AM News)- A rollover crash involving an airborne vehicle claimed the life of a southeast Minnesota man Monday morning.

Winona County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jeffrey Mueller said deputies responded to the crash shortly after 10:20 a.m. Initial reports indicated one vehicle was involved. 

The crash was reported in the 20,000 block of Winona County Rd. 25, which is about 13 miles west of Winona.

Mueller said the preliminary investigation indicates the crash victim's vehicle was traveling north on the two-lane road when it at some point crossed the center line then the fogline in the opposite lane before entering the opposite ditch.

Once in the ditch the vehicle then struck an embankment causing it to go airborne. The vehicle crashed on its front end then rolled to a rest.

Deputies found the driver dead at the scene. He’s been identified as 75-year-old Donald Charles Wilson of Winona.

Mueller said he was partially ejected from the vehicle, which was described as a passenger car.
