Rochester Police Continue Search for Third Shooting Suspect
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester police are holding two suspects and continue looking for a third person in connection to Tuesday’s shooting near the Olive Garden restaurant.
Officers were called there just before 1 p.m. and were told by witnesses two men were chasing another man when several shots were fired. The witnesses said the shots were fired by one of the men chasing the third man.
The two men who were chasing him were apprehended a short while later about a block away. Police Lt Bruce Sherden says a gun was also recovered. He says a second gun was involved in the shooting but it has not yet been located. Neither has the man who was being chased. Sherden says three cars in the restaurant parking lot were hit by bullets
The two who were arrested were 21-year-old Abdi Omar Abukar, believed to be the shooter, and 22-year-old Idris Abdillahi Haji-Mohamed. Both have Rochester addresses.
It’s believed the incident began as a confrontation in the parking lot of Minnwest Bank, near the restaurant. At this point, it’s unknown what prompted the shooting because the suspects refuse to give statements.
Sherden says it may be related to two earlier shootings in the city.
