New Coach Named for Mayo Boys Basketball Team
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester Mayo High School Activities Director Jeff Whitney has announced the new head coach for the boys basketball team.
Whitney says Rick Canton will take over the program.
He was head girls basketball coach at Pine Island from 2001-2014 and head coach of the Pine Island boys team from 1986-2000. He was also PI’s athletic director from 2006-2013.
Canton was also an assistant women's college coach at St Thomas University from 2014-2016.
He succeeds Shaun Lang, who stepped down at the end of the 2015/16 season.
