Minnesota has some incredible places to visit all across our state. There really is quite a bit to check out whether you like to get outside or you want to stay indoors and shop.

But there are some spots around the Land of 10,000 Lakes that don't seem to get the love they deserve. Kind of like Minnesota's best-kept secrets!

So with the help of sites like Trip Advisor, Explore Minnesota, and Bright Nomad, I culminated the ultimate list of hidden gems around Minnesota that you need to visit ASAP.

Minnesota's Hidden Gems

Grand Portage National Monument

I recently wrote about the most underrated city in Minnesota and in that post, I mention Grand Portage and the national monument! I've been there and it's really cool to learn about that particular part of history in our state. The area up there also has other great outdoor adventures.

Itasca State Park

I went to Itasca State Park when I was a kid so it has been a while since I've gone. This is the place where the Mississippi River starts! So that's a great reason by itself to visit this park if you haven't.

Jeffers Petroglyphs

I personally have never been to Jeffers Petroglyphs but I've heard about it many times over the years and I need to go. Bright Nomad writes that it features "over 5,000 carvings from humans, animals, and instruments."

Judy Garland Museum

The iconic Judy Garland was born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and that's where they have a museum dedicated to her today. Explore Minnesota writes that the museum "houses memorabilia from her life and career, including the carriage used in the film’s Emerald City scene."

National Eagle Center

This is a cool spot to go for any age! The National Eagle Center is in Wabasha and they are a big piece in eagle conservation. On their website, they write that they're "dedicated to preserving our majestic eagles and the environment in which they thrive." It's been a while since I've been there myself but I remember loving it when I went.

Wabasha Street Caves

Sticking with the Wabasha name but not in Wabasha (I know, confusing). In St. Paul you have to check out the Wabasha Street Caves. They have swing dancing nights with a live band which is really fun! But they also do tours of the caves and teach you about the history of them. I definitely want to do one of the tours someday and learn about the gangsters that used to occupy the caves!
