Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department this afternoon released some additional details concerning the investigation into the death of a Rochester woman whose body was discovered last Friday.

34-year-old Alice Dobmeier went missing at the beginning of the month and was the subject of a missing person alert issued by the Rochester Police Department last week. Her body was located in a culvert next to a water retention pond along 25th Street Southeast behind the Kohl's Store on South Broadway.

The police department indicated there were no indications that foul play was involved in her death and that finding was supported by the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office. Its preliminary report that positively identified the victim as Dobmeier also stated that there were no signs of trauma on her body. The cause and manner of her death remain under investigation.

A statement issued by the Police Department today for the purpose of dispelling misinformation circulating on social media says the ongoing investigation has determined Dobmeier was alone when she checked into a local hotel on the evening of March 3. She was also alone when she checked out of the hotel the following afternoon.

Investigators say she used a ride service to travel from the hotel to the Walmart South Store where she purchased liquor and medication. Surveillance camera video also shows her leaving the store alone in the mid afternoon on March 4th and walking alone east on 25th Street.

In releasing the additional information, the police department noted that it "must balance the needs of not only a concerned community, but also an active investigation and a grieving family."

The statement goes on to say the Dobmeier family asked the police department to remind people that help is available if you are struggling with mental health and chemical dependency, noting the Southeast Regional Crisis Center is open 24 hours-seven days a week.
