Man Charged With Knife Attacks in La Crescent

LA CRESCENT, Minn. (AP) — Prosecutors have charged a 27-year-old Wisconsin man with trying to kill a woman and toddler at a Minnesota intersection.

The La Crosse Tribune reports Sean Kasten of Ettrick faces a host of charges, including attempted murder, assault and animal mistreatment.

According to a criminal complaint, witnesses said they heard a car screech to halt in La Crescent on Tuesday. A woman jumped out screaming. Kasten got out of the car and collapsed. Police found him, the woman, a 3-year-old child and a pit bull all covered in blood.

The woman said she was giving Kasten a ride when he started to act strangely and stabbed her. He also stabbed the child and dog, who were in the backseat, and himself.
