Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Last month was the busiest June for Rochester home builders in over a decade. The City Building Safety Department issued 52 permits for new single-family homes worth over $15 million, including a single permit for a new home in southwest Rochester valued at over $1.4 million.

The permit total was the highest for the month of June since 2006 and raised the total number of single-family home permits this year to 219. That puts this year slightly ahead of last year’s pace, which was the busiest year for Rochester homebuilders since 2007.

Overall, the city approved 282 building permits worth nearly $54 million. The largest was a $21 million permit for the Miracle Mile project. Two permits, worth a total of $3.8 million, were issued for the Mayo Clinic’s Herman House project, which will be a two home residential facility for people with mental illness near St. Mary’s Hospital.
