Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News)- Emergency responders were called to a structure fire that broke out at a rural property just west of the Rochester Airport on Christmas Eve.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Captain Tim Parkin said fire was reported around 11:20 a.m. Deputies reported a corn crib was on fire when they arrived. 

The fire broke out at a property in the 6600 block of Hwy. 30 southwest. Parkin said the homeowners were burning brush when the flames apparently spread to the corn crib.

Stewartville Fire and Rescue responded to the property and quickly extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported. 

The extent of the damage along with an estimated monetary value of property lost or damaged by the fire is not yet available. It’s unknown what was inside of the corn crib. 

Parkin said the homeowners were cited for burning without a permit.
