Goodview, MN (KROC-AM News)- Several residents of a southeastern Minnesota apartment building have lost their homes due to a massive fire

Emergency crews responded to the fire around 1:45 Friday afternoon. The building was fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival. 

The fire was determined to have been coming from the structure’s roof and was large enough to prompt a request for aid from fire departments in surrounding communities.

A news release issued by the Goodview Fire Department says the fire broke out at an apartment building in the 4800 block of 5th St. in Goodview.

Crews from the nearby Winona Fire Department and Minnesota City Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Law enforcement had confirmed that everyone had made it out of the building, the news release says. The multiple fire agencies then extinguished the large fire.

Officials say part of the structure collapsed as a result of the fire. The apartment building has been deemed a total loss.

No injuries were reported and the Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. The number of people forced out of their homes by the fire has not been released.

The Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the destructive blaze.
