Former Pine Island Teacher Sentenced For Sex With Student
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former Pine Island School District teacher and coach was sentenced this afternoon for a child sexual abuse conviction.
25-year-old Lindsay Rose Schneeberger entered into a plea agreement in early February and admitted to a first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge involving a former student. In exchange, Olmsted County prosecutors agreed to dismiss two additional first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges.
Schneeberger today was given a 12 year prison sentence with credit for the three days she spent in jail after her arrest. Following her release from prison, she will remain on conditional release for another 10 years.
Schneeberger was accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a young girl beginning when the victim was 13 years old. She was arrested last May after the victim's mother reported that her daughter had been sexually assaulted by the former teacher. Court records say the mother discovered suspicious text messages from Schneeberger and confronted her daughter before alerting authorities.
The criminal complaint alleged the sexual assaults occurred between April and May of last year at Schneeberger's home in Rochester. The young victim later gave a statement to investigators and provided graphic details about the illegal sexual contact.
Court documents indicate Schneeberger resigned from her teaching position with the Pine Island School District in March of last year. At the time of her arrest, the school district website listed Schneeberger as a middle school physical education instructor and 7th grade volleyball coach.
