Wisconsin 4th Grader To the Rescue

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (AP) — A Racine-area school bus driver says a fourth-grade student saved her life when she had an asthma attack while driving the bus.

Daquisha Adams says she had the asthma episode on Thursday morning at the start of her route.

The Racine Journal Times reports that as she started coughing and stopped the bus, 9-year-old Jayden Jaramillo came to the front and radioed the bus company for help.

With calm direction from the boy, Durham School Services was able to get an ambulance to Adams' location. She was taken to a hospital.

The 24-year-old Adams was back at work Friday. She says the asthma attack caught her off guard and she didn't have an inhaler with her.

Jaramillo is a student at Trinity Lutheran School.
