St. Paul, MN (Learfield)  --  Mistakes by the Minnesota Wild handed Winnipeg two goals late in the first period, but coach Bruce Boudreau's team bounced back for a 4-3 win in its home opener Saturday.

A pair of turnovers in the closing seconds of that first frame handed the Jets two scores and earned the Wild some boos from their supporters.  After the coach chewed his team out at intermission, the Wild scored three straight goals -- two of the scores just 58 seconds apart -- and took control.

Minnesota was so dominating the visitors went 14 minutes without taking a shot.  Chris Stewart got what is called a "Gordie Howe hat trick," scoring one goal, assisting on another and fighting Winnipeg's Chris Thorburn.
