Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) – The Rochester Planning and Zoning Commission has approved the final plan for a housing project that would be constructed at the Wicked Moose site in the southeast part of the city.

The Eastgate Apartments project calls for a four story building with 135 units. The current plan calls for six studio units, 76 one bedroom apartments and 53 two bedroom units. The developer has indicated they will be marketed as workforce housing apartments. Surface and underground parking will be included. The project is expected to go to the City Council for a final vote next month.

The commission was scheduled to hold a public hearing Wednesday night on a proposed downtown housing project to the northwest of Zumbro Lutheran Church. The proposal calls for a six story mixed use building that would include 150 residential units. The project has been named Residence at Discovery Square. The developer asked the commission to reschedule the hearing and it is expected to be brought back in the near future.
