Marion, MN (KROC AM News) - A burglary this week in southeast Olmsted County led to evidence from an earlier heist in the Byron area.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Captain Scott Behrns says a thief or thieves used a power saw to cut through the siding and get inside Jeff’s Little Store in Marion early Wednesday. The store’s surveillance system was also disabled.

Despite all the work to get inside, the thief or thieves left with just a few packs of cigarettes. And the reciprocating saw was left behind. It was later learned the power tool was among the items taken from the Byron area burglary in December.

This was also the second crime committed at the Marion convenience store. The store, located along Highway 52 several miles south of Rochester, was robbed at gunpoint about a month ago. That thief has never been found.
