Brooklyn Park, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in Hennepin County have released a video from a police car dashcam that shows a Brooklyn Park police officer fighting for his life.

The disturbing video was a key piece of evidence in the trial of 25-year-old Lance Carr, who was found guilty of first-degree assault this week.

Officer Sean Hyman was repeatedly punched in the head and choked by Carr after the officer attempted to arrest him on a felony warrant. On the video, the officer is seen and heard yelling for help while he attempted to fend off Carr, who was finally subdued when some other officers arrived at the scene and used a taser on the man.

The other officers were sent to the scene after a resident of the area heard officer Hyman’s yells for help and called 911. The officer’s gun was fired during the struggle when Carr tried to grab the weapon, but no one was hurt by gunfire..
