Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Two proposed Rochester development projects are on their way to the City Council - one with a recommended denial.

The city Planning and Zoning Commission Wednesday night acted on final plans for the 324 Apartments and Hyatt House proposals.

The commission indicated strong support for the 324 project, which calls for a 50 unit building at the northeast corner of 1st Ave and 4th St SW. But it also sided with staff concerns over a driveway design and denied the final plan. The council could still approve the plan if the design is changed before it acts on the proposal.

The commission approved the final plan for the Hyatt House project at the former American Legion site. It calls for a 9 story hotel that would include 175 guestrooms, along with a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, fitness center, and ground level meeting rooms. The council has already approved tax increment financing for the project totaling $3.9-million.
