MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Two people have drowned in Minnesota lakes.

Both drownings happened on a hot Saturday — one northwest of Minneapolis, the other in western Minnesota.

In Elk River, a man in his 40s went underwater while swimming in Lake Orono. The man was pulled from the water, but the Star Tribune reports he could not be resuscitated.

The second drowning happened a few hours later on Lake Miltona near Miltona. The Douglas County sheriff's office got a 911 call around 4:30 p.m. about a male who went overboard and had not resurfaced. Divers recovered the victim's body from more than 6 feet of water about an hour later, but he could not be revived.

Names of the victims have not been released.
